My first experience with beading was embellishing cabochons in a Native American style over 20 years ago, when I was living in Colorado.
I love color, shapes, and texture; matt, shiny, frosted, round, square, oval, and flat. I guess you could say that I love all beads. That would be my weakness. I’ve never met a bead that I didn’t want to come live in my studio!! Thank goodness I have a husband that is just as affected when it comes to big metal working tools, so he is very encouraging with my passion.
About 15 years ago I discovered (long after many others) that you could incorporate beads with other mediums. I have used beads in cross-stitch pieces, clothing, blankets, scarves, weaving, as well as books & journals. My kids joked sometimes that if they sat still too long, I would add beads to them. For me, beading is also my therapy. It has and continues to get me through the rough times; I look forward to sharing its magic with others
