2010 PBS Bead Retreat
This year, the Portland Bead Society will mark its seventh annual Bead Retreat on March 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2010. Seventy members of PBS will gather by the sea at the Tolovana Inn in Cannon Beach, Oregon, to enjoy three days of
unadulterated inspiration, friendship and creativity!
Each attendee will be greeted at Registration with a packet of information, a wonderful goody bag, a name tag and the opportunity to sign up for free beading classes!
Activities include free bead classes, bead demonstration, bead bingo, swap and sell, bead gambling, and an annual beading competition, the “Margaret Scovil Bead Challenge”. Named after the member who originally started the Retreat, the theme of this year’s competition is “Bead a Purse”. Purses must be larger than a credit card and be made of at least 80% beads. They also must have been created after March 10, 2009. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places. Attendees will vote for the winners.
Attendees will be treated all three days to continental-style breakfasts and catered buffet lunches. Stretching exercises will be interspersed during a day’s activities.
Our faculty for the free classes will consist of seasoned and competent teachers. The faculty and class projects can be viewed HERE.
We also plan to have two outstanding bead vendors for the weekend that will offer a wonderful array of beautiful beads and beading supplies!
If you wish to send in an application, the Retreat application appears on p. 7 of the September 2009 newsletter. The Retreat is currently filled but there are always cancellations. If you wish to join a short wait list, please submit your application ASAP.
Dues must be current as of September 5th, 2090 to attend the retreat. (Any unfilled registrations after 02/01/10 will be opened to new members).
Tuition is $75 for all three days.
